According to the abstract of this property which was last updated in July of 2009, this house was built by A.H. Hartz and his wife Luella in 1929. A mortgage of $4,000 was taken out on February 1, 1929 with Continental Trust and Savings Bank. This lot and many other lots in the area from 35th Street to 38th Street and from Kingman Blvd to Crocker Street were from land owned by J.M. Knox, who inherited the land from his parents. His parents purchased the land in the 1880's. That is how this area got the name Knox Plat 2. The land was broken up into lots in the early 1920's when Marian Knox, the wife of J.M. Knox, sold the land to pay of her late husband's considerable debts.

The mortgage was transferred from the Hartz family to E.H. and Iva Hazel Grothe for $1.00 in 1931. It is unclear weather the Grothe's moved in or took over the mortgage for some reason and allowed the Hartz family to remain living here. A business card for Grothe Construction, a grain bin construction business, was found in the attic of the home.

Joseph J., and Hilda Boor Jackley took out a mortgage on the home on May 1, 1944 for the amount of $4200. Joseph died in December 31, 1957 while Hilda continued to live in the house until her death on September 15, 1999. Her son John J. (Jack) Jackley, a bachelor, had move back into the home with his mother in the 1990's. He purchased the home from his mother in 1998. Jack lived in the home until his death in December 2008.

Erica and Greg Luna purchased the home in July of 2009 and have done extensive work to reinvigorate the house after years of neglect.
