The women of Chi Omega purchased the property at 1243 34th St. in 1962. At the time, it held just 18 women. A $60,000 addition in 1963, seen in brick, doubled the occupancy and added a chapter room, study rooms and house mother accommodations.
In 1967, the entire original structure, in white here, was entirely removed and replaced at a cost of $105,000. Now the home of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, this structure still stands today. (Source - Etsis: A History of the Fraternities and Sororities of Drake University by Clark and Lyman)
