How to Add a "Person" to the Database
Historic Drake neighborhood residents can be added to the database and linked to photos and properties. Residents MUST be created in this manner BEFORE they can be linked to images or properties.
- Log in to the website. Only registered and approved users can add or edit information in the database.
- Search the database for the name of the person you want to add. Before you enter in a new person, make sure they are not already in the database.
- Click on the "Add Person" link under "Volunteer Quick Links" on the left side of the screen.
- Enter the person's name in the format "Last, First"
- Enter the person's date of birth and death if known. These MUST be full dates in the format month/day/year - do not enter just a year.
- Select Church Affiliation and Occupation - These data fields allow multiple characteristics to be selected. Click on the applicable characteristics in the left window. Then click on the green "+" to transfer them to the right side of the screen. If you make a mistake, the red "-" will remove selections to the left side.
- Select the "Groups" this person belongs to. "Unlinked" means that there is no information about where this person lived in the neighborhood. If the person is notable for some reason, select "Notable Residents".
- Enter any narrative information in the "Story" field. Include the source of your information here.
- Click Save. Your person is NOT created until you click "Save".
